Kuwaiti Surgical Innovation Boosts Ovarian Cancer Recovery, Gains Recognition


Kuwait City: Kuwait Health Ministry announced, Sunday, a medical breakthrough by specialist in gynecologic and urology surgeon at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, Dr. Noura Al-Ibrahim, who developed a safer surgical technique for treating advanced ovarian cancer.



According to Kuwait News Agency, the ministry stated that the innovation received scientific recognition after being published in Gynecologic Oncology Reports, the journal of The Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Dr. Al-Ibrahim highlighted that ovarian cancer is one of the most challenging cancers to treat, as it is often diagnosed in its late stages, making surgery a crucial part of the treatment process.



The innovative technique offers a safer approach for managing advanced cases, particularly when the cancer has spread to the intestines, Dr. Al-Ibrahim added. The publication of this technique in an international medical journal makes it accessible to oncology surgeons worldwide, contributing to advancements in ovarian cancer treatment and offering improved outcomes for patients.
