Kuwaitis with disabilities compete in local Bocce ball contest

– Kuwait’s Special Olympics Committee organized on Sunday a contest of the European bowling game known as Bocce, a local initiative aiming to engage people with special needs through the involvement of some 21 local bodies. The contest is a prelude to the Special Olympics world championship slated for June in Germany, Kuwaiti Special Olympics deputy chief Huda Al-Khaldi told KUNA, hailing the event as an opportunity to scout “exceptional talent.” Such events also provide a platform for participants to hone their skills in preparation for larger contests ahead, according to World Special Olympics spokesperson for the Middle and North Africa region Mariam Theyab, who became the first disabled Kuwaiti to procure a taekwondo blue belt.
