Kuwait’s MoI cautions people against rainfall, go out when necessary

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) called on everyone Sunday, not to leave their homes except for the utmost necessity for safety reasons due to the rainfall that the country is currently witnessing.

In a press statement, the General Directorate of Security Relations and Media urged road users and campers to call the emergency phone number 112 or Civil Defense Operations at 1804000 for any humanitarian, security or traffic assistance.

Sea-goers can contact the Coast Guard Operations on the phone number 1880888 when they encounter any emergency.

Meanwhile, the Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that air traffic at Kuwait International Airport is proceeding normally, with delays in some departing flights, despite the rainy situation.

In a statement to KUNA, the Deputy Director General for Planning and Projects Affairs and Spokesperson for DGCA Saad Al-Otaibi said that the movement of aircraft was not affected by the current weather, underscoring that the emergency plan was activated in all operational sectors in DGCA to deal with the huge amount of rain.

The Meteorological Department stated that the country was affected by scattered rain of medium intensity and sometimes thunderstorms in some areas, with wind speeds that may reach over 50 kilometers per hour, and sea waves were over six feet.
