KUALA LUMPUR Malaysia announced Thursday hosting the 3rd Annual Conference of the League of Parliamentarians for Al Quds (LP4Q) with the attendance of 500 backbenchers including a Kuwaiti delegation.
Chairman of the organizing committee of LP4Q Syed Ibrahim Noh said in a statement that the two day conference will be held on February 8, to support the Palestinians’ cause and defend their legitimate rights.
Noh stressed on importance of holding the conference at the current time, especially when Malaysia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) rejected the Israel Palestine peace plan recently announced by United States.
Presence of parliamentary experts and activists from across the world will enhance probability of taking positive solutions for Palestine’s sake, he added.
Moreover, Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is scheduled to deliver his opening keynote address this Saturday, followed by remarks by Port Dickson MP Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim the next day.
Parliamentarians for Al Quds is an internationally independent group which was established in 2015. It aims to activate the role of parliamentarians in supporting Palestinian human rights according to international laws.
The last two conferences at this level were held in Istanbul in Turkey in 2016 and 2018.
The parliamentary Kuwaiti delegation participating in the conference includes MP Osama Issa Al Shaheen and his fellow lawmaker, Abdullah Fahad al Enezi.
