Meknes: 15th Edition of SIAM Wraps Up

The 15th International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM) wrapped up, Sunday in Meknes, under the sign of success with a new edition that reinforces the place of this event in the agenda of major exhibitions in the world.

Organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 15th SIAM, held from 02 to 07 May under the theme “Generation Green: for a sustainable food sovereignty”, has seen the participation of 70 countries.

This edition, which marked the return of this international event after a three-year hiatus due to the crisis related to Covid-19, welcomed the United Kingdom as the guest of honor.

Deployed on an area of 18 hectares, including 11 ha covered, SIAM, which is among the largest events dedicated to agriculture and agricultural stakeholders, has been organized around 10 different poles (regions, institutional and sponsors, international, local products, machinery, products, agricultural supplies, livestock, feeders, nature and life), to which has been added the new “village start-ups pavilion” set up for the first time at the initiative of the general commission of the exhibition.

Among the highlights of this edition, the signing of 19 contracts-programs of new generation for the development and modernization of agricultural production sectors worth 110.698 billion dirhams over 10 years, including a state contribution of MAD 42.477 billion as part of the Agricultural Development Fund (FDA).

The 15th SIAM also saw the organization of a high-level conference, by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, under the theme “Generation Green: for sustainable food sovereignty”, which addressed several topics, including the transformation of food systems in a context of crisis, resilience and sustainability of production systems and the role of scientific and technological progress in a context of severe climate change, as well as South-South cooperation in sustainable food sovereignty.

This edition 2023 was also marked by the holding of the third ministerial meeting of the Initiative “AAA”, under the theme “The transformation of African agriculture to adapt to climate change”.
