EU High Representative Federica Mogherini held Sunday consultations with Head of European Union Delegation in Russia, Markus Ederer, who has arrived in Brussels after having been recalled for consultations as requested by EU leaders on Friday.
Ederer will continue institutional consultations in the coming days, noted a brief press release issued by Mogherini’s office tonight.
On Friday, the European Union recalled its ambassador to Russia over the nerve agent attack on a former Russian spy in Britain.
The move came in solidarity with the United Kingdom in its worsening diplomatic dispute with Russia.
The EU threw weight behind the UK in its accusation against Russia saying it was “highly likely” that Moscow was responsible for the attack on the Russian former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, southern England, on March 4.
