More than 20 people killed in Sudan gun battles

Fighting escalated between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum on Sunday with the regular troops reporting more than two dozen fatalities among the “rebels.” “The army launched a precise operation in Omdurman city, Khartoum state, where 20 rebels were killed and many combat vehicles were destroyed,” according to a military statement.

The army continues advances towards groups of RSF rebels near the state-run Radio and TV building downtown the city, witnesses told KUNA.

The regular troops are chasing the RSF in several cities in Khartoum state, they added.

On their part, the RSF said the army launched air strikes on residential areas in Dar El-Salam district where 31 civilians were killed and dozens of others injured.
