The National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature (NCCAL) mourned the late Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Defense, describing him as having a unique personality, was generous, had great stances and national dedication for the benefit of Kuwait and its people, as this will remain engraved in the minds of Kuwaitis.
In a statement, NCCAL said on Monday that the cultural scene lost a distinguished man who was able with insightful eyes, to use culture and art to build bridges of convergence between people and societies in the East and the West, plus establishing different and new dialogue platforms that always seek to consolidate the foundations of harmony and social peace in the world.
His admiration for history and culture was also a prominent feature, as he established Dar al-Athar Al-Islamiya, which is supervised by NCCAL, it added.
The late Sheikh Nasser is an honorary member of the Board of Trustees of the New York-based Metropolitan Museum.
NCCAL emphasized the pioneering and great role in which the late Sheikh Nasser was able to introduce the aspects of Islamic and Eastern civilization through the Al-Sabah Archaeological Group, with the help of his wife, Sheikha Hessa Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
