Vienna: The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority, known as Nazaha, took part in a specialized panel in Vienna, Austria, focusing on the effectiveness of measures for implementing the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Dhari Buyabes, the Observer of International Organizations and Conferences at Nazaha, stated that Kuwait’s participation was part of the UN’s 15th second resumed session, following an invitation from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. During the panel discussions, Buyabes emphasized the necessity of establishing international mechanisms to gauge the level of implementation required by the convention.
Buyabes also highlighted the importance of evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness of national measures within the framework of implementing international recommendations from review sessions. He explained that these international meetings coincide with the conclusion of the second session of the UN Convention against Corruption, marking the b
eginning of a new phase where the UN Convention Implementation Review Group convenes regularly to share opinions and exchange views.
Furthermore, Buyabes reiterated Kuwait’s commitment to meeting the information, visions, and data requirements set by groups stemming from the convention and the UN’s Office on Drugs and Crime. This commitment aims to enhance cooperation with countries and international organizations, ensuring that Kuwait is represented effectively in international forums dedicated to combating corruption.
