OIC condemns failed life bid against Palestine PM

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned a failed assassination attempt against Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, and head of Palestine General Intelligence Major-Gen. Majed Faraj, during their visit to Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

This attempt, said the OIC in a statement, aimed at undermining national unity and all efforts to achieve Palestinian conciliation.

It called for pursuing those behind the attack and prosecuting them.

The OIC extended full support for the implementation of last year’s conciliation agreement, which should allow Palestinian government of national accord to exercise its authorities in Gaza.

Hamdallah and Faraj escaped an assassination attmpt as they were arriving in Gaza to open a water desalination station. Seven people were injured in the attack.

Hamdallah continued the planned visit and opened the water station in northern Gaza, and then left the Strip.
