Palestine announces campaign to confront US “pro-Israel” peace plan

RAMALLAH: Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Malki announced Sunday launch of a Palestinian diplomatic campaign, to confront the US so-called Deal of the Century aimed to resolve Israeli-Palestine conflict.

In statement to the official radio station Monday, Al-Malki said that the Arab League member states, at the level of foreign ministers, will be invited to discuss rejection of the deal of the century, and to define mechanisms on how to confront it.

The move would take place within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, other regional and international institutions, the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly, he clarified.

At the internal level, the Palestinian leadership will hold a series of meetings, to announce a rejection of any concession from Jerusalem, according to presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina.

In a similar statement to the same radio station, Abu Rudeina said the Palestinian leadership will study all options, assuring that all outcome decisions will be supported by both Arabic and international parties.

In this context, he warned of the serious repercussions on the region if the “deal of the century” is announced and implemented.

On his part, secretary general of the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s (PLO) executive committee Saeb Erekat said, “It appears that Trump is trying to make peace between Netanyahu and Gantz so that the three of them can dictate the apartheid regime and the legitimization of settlements and announce annexation to finish off the cause of the Palestinian people.” In a press statement, Erekat said ” If Netanyahu decides to annex the Palestinian territories, this means Israel withdraws from the Oslo understandings and all signed agreements, which means that there will be an attempt to destroy the principle of a two-state solution.”
