Palestinian cause to top Arab summit agenda — Tunisian president

TUNIS, Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi affirmed on Friday the Palestinian cause would be on top of prior topics to be addressed at the Arab summit due in end of March.

Tunisian Presidency said in a statement that the president made the affirmation during a meeting that grouped him with the Palestinian president advisor for international relations, Dr. Nabil Shaath.

President Essebsi emphasized Tunisia’s unwavering and continuous support for the Palestinian people, defending their just cause and its commitment to defend it at regional and international quarters. He also renewed readiness to help the Palestinians in their quest to establish an independent state with Holy Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian cause will be on top of the concerns at the upcoming Arab summit, to be hosted by Tunisia in the end of March, he said, vowing to spare no effort for defending the just cause worldwide.

For his part, Dr. Shaath expressed gratitude for the president supportive stance, briefed him about efforts to reconcile Palestinian factions and hoped that the forthcoming summit would succeed in affirming the Palestinian cause as the Arabs’ central issue.
