Palestinian legislative assembly: “Economic alternatives” won’t attain peace

AMMAN, The Palestinian National Council (PNC) says there will be no peace in the region as long as Israel continues to occupy Palestinian territories.

The PNC, in a statement on eve of “al-naksa,” when the Israelis occupied more territories of Palestine, the Syrian Golan heights and Egypt’s Sinai in 1967, expressed opposition to the forthcoming US-called economic conference for the Middle East, due in Bahrain.

Peace cannot be attained by “shifting to economic alternatives, conferences and deals based on notions and Torah-inspired dreams of a group of settlers in Trump’s administration for service of the right-wing camp led Benjamin Netanyahu,” it said.

It called on the United Nations to implement its resolutions concerning the Palestinians cause and “stop playing the role of the spectator of the continuing occupation and the crimes against the Palestinian people.” The council, which acts as the legislative body of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), called for international protection of the Palestinian people from “the Israeli military and settlers’ terrorism.” “Al-Naksa” occasion falls tomorrow Wednesday.
