Pompeo, Raab discuss US-UK FTA

WASHINGTON, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke Saturday with UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and congratulated him on his re-election.

They discussed “plans for a robust US-UK Free Trade Agreement after Brexit and the importance of secure 5G networks,” US State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said in a statement.

They also discussed “working to address the challenges posed by Iran, Russia, and China.” On Friday, the majority of the UK House of Common members voted in favor of the government Brexit deal and completing relevant measures by end of next month.

Shortly after the electoral victory of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, President Donald Trump had tweeted that the two countries “will now be free to strike a massive new trade deal after Brexit.”
