Pompeo thanks France’ efforts to “hold Iran accountable for terrorist activity in Europe”

WASHINGTON, February 6 (KUNA)-US State Secretary Michael Pompeo on Wednesday met with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian to discuss “global efforts” in countering the so-called Islamic State (IS) and thanked France for its contributions in holding “Iran accountable for its terrorist activity in Europe.” State Department Deputy Spokesperson Robert Palladino said in a statement that Pompeo and Le Drian “met to discuss global efforts in the fight” against IS.

It maintained that Pompeo “thanked France for its efforts to hold Iran accountable for its terrorist activity in Europe.” The statement added that Pompeo and his French counterpart “also discussed Venezuela, Libya, and countering Russia’s destabilizing behavior and promoting regional energy security.”
