WASHINGTON, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will travel to the UK, Morocco and Portugal from December 3-6, the State Department announced Tuesday.
On December 3-4, Pompeo will join the US delegation led by President Donald Trump to London to attend the NATO Leaders Meeting where the “US contingent will highlight the 70th anniversary of NATO.” The US delegation will also “the work ahead to adapt the Alliance to address emerging security challenges,” the Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus pointed out.
Following the NATO Leaders Summit, Pompeo will travel to Morocco, December 4-5, to meet with a range of government officials “to review our countries’ strong economic and security partnership.” On December 6, the US top diplomat will travel to Lisbon, Portugal, where he will meet with Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa and Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva.
Both sides are expected to “reaffirm the robust US-Portugal relationship” and “discuss US-Portuguese cooperation across a wide range of interests.”
