President of the Supreme Judicial Council receives the comprehensive report on the Speicher massacre from the UNITAD team


Baghdad: The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, received today, Monday, the United Nations Investigative Team for the Promotion of Accountability for Crimes Committed by ISIS (UNITAD), headed by Ana Pirro Bubis.

The Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement: ‘The head of the team handed over to the Chairman of the Council the comprehensive analytical report on the massacre of the presidential palace complex in Tikrit, which was committed against the volunteers who left the Tikrit Air Academy in 2014 (Speicher).’

The President of the Council praised the team’s efforts in achieving this important achievement, which summarizes this crime as a crime committed with the intention of genocide in the policy of ISIS against the Shiites in Iraq, and considering this crime a crime against humanity and a war crime.

The report handover ceremony was attended by the first judge of the Central Investigative Court, Jabbar Abd Deli, and the investigating judge, Yasser Fantil, who is responsib
le for investigating this crime.
