Putin, Merkel mull developments in Libya

MOSCOW, Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed, via phone, Sunday the latest developments in Libya.

Both leaders underlined the need for intensifying efforts to find a political settlement to the conflict in Libya, through a Germany and the UN-led mediation, the Kremlin said in a press statement.

Russia has recently expressed concerns about Turkey’s plan to deploy forces in Libya to support the internationally-recognized Libyan government of Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj.
