MOSCOW, President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan should take precise calculations during “Operation Peace Spring” so it would not harm efforts for peace in Syria.
A statement by the Russian Presidency said that Putin, during a phone call with Erdogan, affirmed that it was imperative for Turkey to take calculated decisions during its operations without harming efforts aimed at resolving the Syrian conflict.
The two sides affirmed that it was paramount to respect Syrian sovereignty and unity if efforts for peace would prevail.
Earlier, President Erdogan announced the launch of Operation Peace Spring, a military step to targeting PPK/YPG elements as well as so-called Islamic State (IS) operatives in northern Syria.
