Qatar supports resumption of peace negotiations between the Sudanese government and the Darfur armed groups, said Ambassador Mutlaq Al-Qahtani, special envoy of the Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He made the remarks to reporters after he had held talks with President Omar Al-Bashir here late Sunday.
The Qatari envoy said he discussed with the President Al-Bashir means of expediting the tracks of negotiations and the possibility of joining by the other groups to sit for negotiations to reach understandings and accord on the basis of the Doha peace agreement.
Sudan government and rebel movements in Darfur signed a peace document in 2011 under Qatari auspice except three factions who refused joining and call for new negotiation, which Khartoum strongly rejects.
