Road Safety Conference Debuts in Riyadh with Kuwait’s Participation.

Riyadh: The Conference and Exhibition of Road Safety and Sustainability commenced in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, featuring the participation of Kuwaiti Minister of Public Works Noura Al-Mashaan. The event, spanning from November 3 to 4, is co-organized by the Saudi Roads General Authority and the International Road Federation.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser highlighted Saudi Arabia’s achievements in road safety and innovation during his keynote speech. He mentioned several scientific advancements, including road cooling technologies and rubber roads, which have propelled the kingdom to the fourth position in the road quality indicator among G20 countries. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia has successfully reduced traffic-related fatalities by approximately 50%, surpassing the targets set within the national transport and logistics services strategy.

Honorary Chairman of the International Road Federation, Abdullah Al-Mogbel, emphasized the federatio
n’s commitment to leveraging modern technologies to enhance road safety and sustainability. On the sidelines of the event, Kuwaiti Minister Noura Al-Mashaan discussed Kuwait’s recent contract to maintain the country’s roads, acknowledging progress in overcoming certain challenges while continuing efforts to address others. She also highlighted the establishment of a database by the Public Authority for Civil Information to tackle overlapping competences related to traffic safety, utilizing Kuwait’s digital map for data analysis to formulate road safety solutions.

The conference, themed “Innovating for Tomorrow,” aims to address various issues related to traffic safety and road sustainability, examining international best practices and technological advancements. It particularly focuses on the transformative impacts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) on future transportation strategies. Participants explore how AI and ITS can enhance sustainable mobility, optimize traffic
management, improve vehicle safety, and reduce environmental impacts.
