Zaid Alajlan, a Saudi lecturer at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, won the 2023 Kenneth M. Haber Award from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, the United States.

The award is granted to students who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in both academic and research fields.

Alajlan, a research assistant at Case Western Reserve University, thanked the wise Saudi leadership for the support provided to students within The Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program, highlighting the successive academic and research achievements of Saudi students within the program.

He also praised the role of the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission to the United States (SACM) in following up and addressing difficulties.

Alajlan holds a solid record of achievements, previously winning the university’s Roy Harley Prize in 2022, which is awarded to promising and distinguished postgraduate students.

Alajlan was involved in teaching practical lectures at the university during his undergraduate studies and has served as the president of the Graduate Civil Engineering Student Association since 2022.

Furthermore, Alajlan has made several research contributions to scientific journals and conferences.

Alajlan’s doctoral research at the university, part of which is backed by his department, focuses on environmental sustainability, specifically the development and enhancement of soil properties through the integration of beneficial bacteria and fungi.

Another aspect of his research involves using remote sensing through satellites to track soil erosion areas.
