Washington: The US is monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan “closely,” after the former launched military strikes against targets in Pakistan, said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio late Tuesday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Rubio stated on X, “I am monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan closely.” He further echoed President Trump’s earlier comments, expressing hope that the situation would end quickly and emphasized the US’s intent to engage with both Indian and Pakistani leadership to seek a peaceful resolution.
Earlier, President Trump expressed his hope for a swift end to the clashes between the two nations following New Delhi’s military strikes. The strikes were a response to what India claims was a “terrorist” attack in the India-controlled Kashmir region, attributed to Pakistan, an allegation that Islamabad has strongly denied.
The attack, which occurred on April 22, resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, prompting India’s vow of retaliation against Pakistan.
