Security Operations in Northern Pakistan Result in Deaths of Seven Militants and One Soldier

ISLAMABAD: At least seven militants and a soldier were killed during two separate security operations conducted by Pakistani forces in the northern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, which shares a border with Afghanistan, the military announced on Wednesday.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the operations were part of an intelligence-based mission led by the security forces in the Miran Shah area of North Waziristan tribal district in KPK. The Pakistan military’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported that the operation targeted a location identified as harboring terrorists, leading to the death of four militants.

In a separate incident in the Spinwam area of the same district, security forces engaged in an encounter with terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of three militants. The exchange of gunfire during this operation also led to the death of one Pakistani soldier, as confirmed by ISPR. The military emphasized that ongoing operations aim to eradicate any remainin
g militant threats in the region.

The military statement underscored the commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to combat terrorism, highlighting the sacrifices made by soldiers as a reinforcement of their resolve. The operations in KPK follow an earlier security mission on Tuesday in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, where 15 terrorists were reportedly killed, and one soldier was martyred.

These security operations occur amid a noted increase in terrorist activities in the KPK and Balochistan provinces, both of which share borders with Afghanistan.
