Six Militants Killed in Southwest Pakistan During Infiltration Attempt

Zhob: At least six militants attempting to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border into Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province were killed by security forces, the military reported on Thursday.

According to Kuwait News Agency, a press release issued by Pakistan military’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated that a group of militants trying to cross the border was detected by security forces in the general area of Sambaza in Zhob district of Balochistan. The security forces effectively engaged the group, thwarting their infiltration attempt and resulting in the deaths of six militants. ISPR also confirmed the recovery of a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the site.

The military emphasized that Pakistan has consistently urged the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side. The statement expressed expectations for the Afghan Government to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent the use of Afghan territory by militants for terrorism against Pakistan. It reiterated the commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to secure the borders and eliminate terrorism from the country.

This incident follows a similar operation last week in which at least five militants were killed while attempting to infiltrate the border. These operations occur amid a rise in terror attacks in Pakistan, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Balochistan provinces, which share a border with Afghanistan.
