KUWAIT, March 11 (KUNA) — A first-of-its-kind sports conference, held in Kuwait on Saturday, is primarily intended to fan out the sports-for-all concept as a strategic societal option and to raise public awareness of physical activity, said a senior sports official.
Held under the aegis of Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, the two-day academic sports forum draws a large-scale Arab and international presence, Acting Director-General of the Kuwaiti Public Authority for Sport Faisal Al-Yateem told the event.
The event is of paramount significance as it comes amid the challenges Arab societies are facing, he said, calling for raising public awareness of the vital and significant role of sports.
Sports has now become an effective and influential tool for fostering social bonds and promoting the great values of Islam, fraternity, solidarity and tolerance, he pointed out.
