Sudan reports first coronavirus case

KHARTOUM Sudan on Friday announced its first confirmed coronavirus case of a man who died on Thursday and had returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the first week of March.

The man, in his 50s, died in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, the country’s Health Ministry said in a statement.

Sudanese authorities on Thursday suspended flights to eight countries and closed crossings with neighboring Egypt due to concerns over the novel coronavirus.

The coronavirus first appeared in the central Chinese city of Wuhan late last year. The pandemic has claimed the lives of thousands of people, mostly in China, Italy, Iran and South Korea.
