TEHRAN, Iran will begin enriching uranium to five percent at Fordow uranium enrichment facility, south of Tehran, an official said on Tuesday.
Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) quoted head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi as saying that the step of enriching uranium to five percent starts Wednesday (tomorrow) at the facility of Fordow.
He added that the country had previously enriched uranium at the level between five and 20 percent, noting that there is an enough quantity now.
The country will enrich uranium in accordance with the nuclear deal, if it is needed, he pointed out. On injecting the UF6 (uranium hexafluoride) at the centrifuges at the facility, Salehi said this action will begin Wednesday (tomorrow) in the presence of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s inspectors, he said. Iran informed the agency about this matter, he stressed.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced earlier in the day the start of injecting uranium gas at the centrifuges at Fordow.
