The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs called today, for mutual respect, tolerance and learning among different civilizations, noting that it strongly opposes extremist actions that attack different religious beliefs.
“Islamic civilization has made important contributions to world civilization, and the so-called (freedom of expression) should not be used as a reason to provoke a clash among civilizations and create confrontation among them,” said Mao Ning, Spokeswoman for the ministry, in her comment on the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden during a press conference.
Mao indicated that China is willing to work with the international community to carry forward the spirit of the global civilization initiative, promote exchanges and dialogue among them through practical measures, and jointly protect the diversity of the world’s civilizations.
