The Foreign Minister receives copies of the credentials of ten new Ambassadors to Iraq

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, received today, Sunday, at the Ministry’s building in Baghdad, copies of the credentials of ten non-resident Ambassadors to Iraq.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Ambassadors are of: Dominican Republic George Bahsa Hazim, Latvian Joris Boykans, United Mexican States Luis Alfonso de Alba, Thailand Sobark Prongtol, Republic of Ireland Marian Bolger, Belgium Serge Duchen, Republic of Lithuania Ramonas Davidonis, Republic of Cuba Alberto Gonzalez-Caslas, Socialist Republic of Vietnam Long Quoc Huy, Republic of Uruguay Nelson Jamil Shaaban.

The Minister stressed, while receiving the Ambassadors separately, that Iraq’s foreign policy is based on establishing strong balanced relations based on strengthening political, economic and commercial cooperation, and overcoming differences and tensions in the region through dialogue and convergence.

He pointed out that joint international and regional cooperation to confront immediate global challenges is a necessity, most notably continuing to combat terrorism and extremism, addressing economic fluctuations and health crises, and confronting severe climate changes that pose a threat to all.

The Minister stated: Iraq is looking forward to achieving a distinguished presence in relations with the countries of the world, and working to develop bilateral relations in areas of common interest, expressing Iraq’s endeavor to coordinate diplomatic positions between friendly countries in issues, and regional and international developments, usually; Relationships are based on geographical proximity as a basis, in addition to the foundations and principles of political positions.

The Minister expressed his wishes for the new Ambassadors to succeed in performing their new duties, expressing the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide all support to diplomatic missions in a way that enhances friendship and cooperation relations between Iraq and their countries.

For their part, the Ambassadors expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Minister, expressing their aspirations to develop relations with Iraq in various fields and in a manner that strengthens common ties.
