The United Nations reveals the number of people fleeing Sudan to neighboring countries

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced that more than 100,000 people have fled from Sudan to neighboring countries, fleeing the military clashes.

“The number of people who have crossed so far from Sudan to neighboring countries is estimated at more than 100,000 refugees,” UNHCR spokeswoman Olga Sarado said on Tuesday.

Sarado explained that “the number includes Sudanese and South Sudanese returning to their homes, and people who were already refugees inside Sudan to escape the fighting” in other unnamed countries.

Since last April 15, a number of Sudanese states have witnessed large-scale clashes between the army, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, “Hamidati”, in which the two sides exchange accusations of being responsible for the outbreak after forces affiliated with each went to control centers belonging to the other.
