Trump, British PM discuss importance of “dismantling” Russia spy networks

WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump spoke with British Prime Minister Theresa May during which they discussed the importance of “dismantling” of Russian spy networks, it was announced Wednesday.

The White House said in a statement that Trump and May “agreed on the importance of dismantling Russia’s spy networks in the United Kingdom and the United States to curtail Russian clandestine activities and prevent future chemical weapons attacks on either country’s soil.” It added that the two leaders also discussed “how the passage of the Clarifying Lawful Overseas Use of Data (CLOUD) Act will improve law enforcement cooperation.” Last Monday, the US announced that it will expel 48 Russian officials serving at Russia’s bilateral mission to the US and 12 intelligence operatives from the Russian Mission to the UN, as well as the closures of the Russian Consulate General in Seattle in response to Russia’s use of a military-grade chemical weapon on the soil of the UK.
