Trump lashes out at Dems, Pelosi over impeachment

WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump lashed out Tuesday at the Democrats and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for their ongoing drive to impeach him.

In remarks to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Trump said Pelosi “hates the Republican Party. She hates all of the people that voted for me and the Republican Party.” “She’s doing a tremendous disservice to the country. She’s not doing a good job,” he stressed.

Furthermore, Trump reiterated that he is in a “very good position” regarding his upcoming impeachment trial in the Senate.

“We’re in a very good position. Ultimately, that decision’s going to be made by Mitch McConnell (Senate Majority Leader) and he will make it. He has the right to do whatever he wants. He’s the head of the Senate,” he affirmed.

The House Democrats “treated us very unfairly. They didn’t give us due process. They didn’t give us a lawyer. They didn’t give us anything. Now they come to the Senate and they want everything,” he said, adding, “We had a perfect case. They had no case.” “Now, they get to the Senate. And now, we have the majority and it’s up to Mitch McConnell — he is going to do what he wants to do. But a smart guy, very good guy and a very fair guy but they treated us very unfairly and now they want fairness in the Senate,” Trump remarked. On Monday, Pelosi reiterated that she would not allow impeachment articles against Trump to proceed at the Senate until clarification is made on whether certain witnesses will testify.

The House of Representatives voted last week to impeach Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, making him the third president in US history to be impeached.
