Trump, Macron discuss Iran behavior

WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump spoke Monday by telephone with French President Emmanuel Macron of France during which they discussed Iran’s behavior.

The White House said in a statement that Trump and Macron discussed “ongoing efforts to ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon and to end Iran’s destabilizing behavior in the Middle East.” France is sending a senior envoy from the Elysee Palace to Tehran to explore ways to de-escalate growing tensions over Iran’s decision to break commitments on its uranium enrichment, the French media reported today.

US Vice President Mike Pence tweeted today “this Administration has been strongly committed to standing up to the world’s leading state sponsor of terror which is why President Donald Trump withdrew from the disastrous nuclear deal with Iran.

“We will NEVER let Iran gain access to a nuclear weapon!” he vowed.
