US President Donald Trump on Friday pledged to avert nuclear conflict with North Korea “at all cost.” In a video message released by the White House, Trump said, “Our world has seen more than enough conflict. If there’s a chance at peace, if there’s a chance to end the horrible threat of nuclear conflict, then we must pursue it at all costs.” Trump is under pressure to sell the recent agreement he struck with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore, which includes a pledge to denuclearize, but no timetable has yet been given for the completion of that process.
Trump noted that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is leading talks with North Korea on implementing the accord.
