Trump sends more troops to US border with Mexico

WASHINGTON, President Donald Trump said Thursday that more troops are being sent to the US border with Mexico to “stop the attempted invasion of illegals.” “More troops being sent to the Southern Border to stop the attempted Invasion of Illegals, through large Caravans, into our Country,” he tweeted. “We have stopped the previous Caravans, and we will stop these also.” On Tuesday, Mexico ended a program to give migrants from Central America visas for humanitarian reasons as they travel through the country to the US border. Some 12,600 migrants had already applied for humanitarian visas since January 16 and 4,000 already received them, according to media reports.

Despite a pause to the month-long partial government shutdown in the US, Trump has insisted that he will likely close the government by a February 15 deadline if lawmakers do not provide USD 5.7 billion for a border wall.

“With a Wall it would be soooo much easier (to stop the caravan) and less expensive. Being Built!,” he tweeted.
