Trumps says tariffs on China to kick in tonight

US President Donald Trump confirmed Thursday that USD 34 billion in tariffs against China will begin tonight.

Trump told reporters in Air Force One “34 billion, and then you have another 16 billion in two weeks and then as you know we have 200 billion in abeyance and then after the 200 billion we have 300 billion in abeyance.” “Ok? So we have 50 plus 200 plus almost 300. It’s only on China,” he remarked.

China warned earlier Thursday its additional tariffs on some import products from the US will be implemented immediately after the new US tariffs take effect, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.
