Turkey, UN mull over Syrian refugees’ repatriation

ANKARA, Turkish officials and UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) representatives met in Ankara Friday on voluntary repatriation of Syrian refugees in Turkey, the Foreign Ministry said.

Both sides agreed on the significance of promoting joint efforts in order to ensure safe and voluntary repatriation of Syrian refugees, the ministry said in a statement.

They also vowed that they would carry on working closely with a view to finding durable humanitarian solutions for Syrians, according to the statement.

Turkish and UNHCR officials further agreed to hold the coming round of talks in Geneva in early 2010, it added.
