Turkish army kills 34 militants in SE Turkey, N. Iraq

ISTANBUL, The Turkish Army killed 34 militants during security operations in Turkey’s southeastern cities of Diyarbakir and Mardin and in northern Iraq last week, according to an army statement.

The operations targeted members and locations of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the Turkish Army said in the statement, adding that five Turkish soldiers were also killed and two others injured in the operations.

Some 4,486 militants and 54 soldiers have been killed and 233 others injured since the “Operation Olive Branch” was started in the Syrian city of Afrin on January 20.
