Turkish elections: voting begins at customs gate

Turkish citizens living abroad began casting their votes at customs gates and foreign missions on Thursday ahead of the presidential and general elections scheduled on June 24.

Anadolu News Agency said that some started voting at custom gates of Istanbul’s Ataturk and Sabiha Gokcen airports and others began to vote at the Kapikule and Ipsala border gates in the northwestern Edirne province and at the Derekoy border gate in the northwestern Kirklareli province.

The voting process will end on June 24. In case of another round, Turkish citizens will begin to vote on June 30 until July 8.

Six candidates are running for the presidential race while eight political parties are taking part in the parliamentary elections.
