BRUSSELS, The EU27 has agreed that it will accept the UK’s request for a Brexit ‘flextension’ until January 31, 2020, the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, announced Monday.
“The decision is expected to be formalised through a written procedure,” he said on his Twitter.
A flexible extension means the UK could leave the EU before the deadline of January 31 if a Brexit deal was approved by the British Parliament; hence a ‘flextension’.
The UK was to leave the EU on October 31, a matter unlikely to happen now.
