UK expresses “grave concerns” over use of chemical weapons in Syria

LONDON, The United Kingdom expressed Friday “grave concerns” over the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

In a press statement, British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab said, “Track record of using chemical weapons against the Syrian people is an appalling stain on his (Bashar Al-Assad) regime and the countries that support him.” He affirmed that his country expressed, “Grave concerns about the chemical attack in May in Syria.” “We have shared these concerns with the OPCW,” he added.

On Thursday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that his country has a strong reason to believe that the Assad regime used chemical weapons during battles with armed opposition in Idlib, Syria, last May.
