US, Britain discuss negotiations on commercial deal

WASHINGTON, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday discussed over the telephone with his British counterpart Dominic Raab negotiations on reaching an ambitious commercial agreement after the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

“Secretary Pompeo and Foreign Secretary Raab discussed the intention of the United States and the United Kingdom to negotiate an ambitious free trade agreement after the United Kingdom departs the European Union,” the US State Department said in a news statement. They also discussed a variety of international security challenges, including Iran’s destabilizing role in the Middle East, Turkey’s plans” regarding the military operation in northern Syria, it added.
