WASHINGTON, The US said late Friday it is “deeply saddened” over the loss of lives in Gaza, where at least 15 Palestinians were killed and 1,400 others wounded during a peaceful rally marking ‘Land Day’.
State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a tweet “we are deeply saddened by loss of life in Gaza today.
“We urge those involved to take steps to lower tensions,” she remarked.
She stressed that the international community “is focused on taking steps that will improve the lives of the Palestinians and is working on a plan for peace.
“Violence furthers neither of those goals,” she noted.
