BAGHDAD, US special envoy to Syria James Jeffrey discussed on Thursday some security files and joint cooperation with Iraqi President Barham Salih and caretaker prime minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi in two separate meetings.
Providing international support to enhance stability and security in Iraq, achieving requires reforms, developing bilateral ties, expanding cooperation and increasing commercial exchange between Baghdad and Washington were covered during the meeting held between Jeffrey and Salih, an Iraqi presidential statement said.
The two sides also focused on the situations in Syria and the region as well as the need of achieving international security and peace, it added.
Meanwhile, the US envoy discussed with Abdul-Mahdi continuing cooperation to combat the remnants of the so-called Islamic State and supporting the international coalition to Iraq to eliminate terrorism, a government statement said.
