US FM discusses Libya crisis in Rome

ROME, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday began his European tour to Rome and the Vatican to discuss the crisis in Libya and relations with Moscow along with customs taxes and the fifth generation telecommunications networks.

The Italian Foreign Ministry said Pompeo will be meeting Italian President Sergio Matarella and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, and also his counterpart Luigi Di Maio on Wednesday.

A statement by the Vatican said US Secretary will meet with Pope Francis after tomorrow on an official visit to hold discussions with Secretary of State cardinal Pietro Parolin and Secretary for relation Bishop Paul Gallagher, as well as taking part in a forum on achieving humanitarian dignity with religious organizations.

Pompeo who is of Italian descent will be visiting his ancestor’s homeland in Caramanico Terme a small province in the middle of Italy before leaving on Friday.

US Diplomatic Official tour to southern Europe will include Macedonia and Greece.
