US Special Rep. for N.Korea heads for Europe for meetings

WASHINGTON, US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun will travel to Brussels, Belgium and Berlin, Germany later this week for meetings, the Department of State said in a statement.

The statement noted that Biegun will Brussels July 8-9 and Berlin July 10-11 for meetings with European officials and with Republic of Korea Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon “to advance our shared efforts to achieve the final, fully verified denuclearization of North Korea.” US President Donald Trump became the first sitting president to cross into North Korea last week and later tweeted “our teams will be meeting to work on some solutions to very long term and persistent problems.”
