US Treasury Secretary Stresses Urgency of Economic Partnership with Ukraine


Washington D.C.: US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has emphasized the urgent need to finalize an economic partnership agreement with Ukraine, underscoring its significance during a recent meeting in Washington D.C. with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko. Bessent reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and expressed the importance of securing a lasting peace for both Ukraine and Russia.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Bessent highlighted the potential benefits of the proposed economic partnership for both American and Ukrainian citizens. He noted that ongoing technical talks between the two nations are progressing productively. Bessent stressed the necessity of concluding these technical discussions promptly to formalize the economic partnership agreement.

In a demonstration of mutual intent, Ukraine and the US signed a memorandum of understanding last week, signaling their willingness to finalize the economic partnership agreement.
