— The Ministry of Interior has announced that a wanted armed man who opened fire on police forces in Ali Sabah Al-Salem area had committed suicide.
In a press statement, the ministry clarified that the police forces had founded the man’s bloodied body after storming his home on Thursday when the sound of his weapon went silent.
Forensic examinations had confirmed that the man had killed himself.
It pointed out that the man had taken shelter in his home after firing gunshots at a police vehicle and nearby houses Wednesday evening and sporadically fired at police forces who cordoned off the area and urged him to surrender.
Police have given him more than one chance to surrender and never responded to his fire, despite controlling his home and the adjacent area to avoid causing any harm to the house or neighborhood residents, added the ministry.
Later, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, MoI Undersecretary Lt. Gen. Issam Al-Nahham, and a number of the ministry leaders visited the area where the incident took place.
