“We did our job perfectly” in defeating IS – Trump

WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump reiterated that the US has defeated the so-called Islamic State (IS) by 100 percent in Syria, saying “we did our job perfectly.” He added “we have one of three choices: send in thousands of troops and win militarily, hit Turkey very hard financially and with Sanctions, or mediate a deal between Turkey and the Kurds.” “The last thing I want to do is bring thousands and thousands of soldiers in and defeat everybody again. We’ve already done that,” Trump told reporters at the White House, late on Thursday.

On his tweet regarding the three choices, Trump said that “of the three I hope it’s going to be the last one,” reiterating “we can mediate. I hope we can mediate.” “So, what we have is really two choices, you have the choice to bring in the military and defeating everybody again or you have the choice of financially doing some very strong things to Turkey so that they take it a little bit easy,” he remarked.

He added “Turkey knows where I stand, let’s see what happens. We are going to possibly do something very, very tough with respect to sanctions and other financial things.” On Wednesday, Trump reiterated that the US “does not endorse” Turkey’s military operation in northern Syria, saying it has “made it clear to Turkey that this operation is a bad idea.”
